Hello! I am unable to make Wooden Saint Dolls at the moment but The Learning Basket Shop has a few dolls available.
Let me tell you a brief story of how these wooden dolls came to be.
My son has a habit of kissing the statue of Mary and the crucifix on our altar. He often requests to kiss them. But sometimes, he takes the statue by himself and kisses it. I often get nervous and tell him not to do that because it might break. But then, who am I to prevent this toddler from showing affection to our dear Mother Mary and Jesus? I feel like a villain!
So I thought of making felt dolls of Jesus, Mary and the saints at first. But then, I'm really bad at sewing (my husband is the one good at sewing).
Then I thought of corks, but those were too small and a choking hazard.
I prayed for inspiration. And then I saw my little Kokeshi doll. Its a key chain given to me by one of my dearest friends and godmother of my son.
Wood! Yes wood! Its unbreakable and I can paint on it. We'll be playing and praying soon!
